I can't get any microphone other than internal mic to work :( :( :(

I am running freshly installed Arch on an Alienware 17 R2 Laptop with KDE Plasma. The Laptop's internal soundcard is a Sound Blaster Recon3D - notorious for having had issues across all OS's but supposedly should work now with Linux so I hope to find some help here to get this fixed in Arch because I can already feel the plague Windows creeping up on me again if I don't sad

No matter what I try NO microphone other than the laptop's internal one receives any signal although both pulseaudio and alsa recognize and show every microphone I plug in.
It does not matter whether I plug in any generic analog microphone or a USB microphone - every device is recognized and will show up in alsamixer and pavucontrol but no external microphone will receive any signal. The only signal that is ever received let alone captured is the internal microphone's. No signal NOTHING from any other mic

Here is what I was able to observe:
When I plug in any generic analog microphone / analog headset this happens:
- pavucontrol input device switches from "Internal Microphone" to "Microphone (plugged in)" when I plug in the headset microphone.
- "active port" of the correct alsa_input in pacmd list-sources also switches from "analog-input-internal-mic" to "analog-input-mic" when I plug in the headset microphone.
- pavucontrol output device switches from "Speakers" to "Headphones (plugged in)" when I plug in the headphones.
So jack detection works and my laptop speakers get muted and sound is coming out of my headphones but captured input signal is still only coming from the internal microphone although it is now labelled as "Microphone (plugged in)" pavucontrol. So input is just relabelled but still coming from my internal mic. (The little noise indicated in the pavucontrol > input devices screenshot above is actually the laptop fans captured by the internal microphone)

When I plug in my USB headset this happens:
- "PRO X" device added to pavucontrol
I can route output to my USB headset and have sound but when I set input to my USB headset's microphone there is no signal at all. This is the same for every possible PRO X setting in pavucontrol > configuration ("mono input", "multichannel input" and every other combination)

Now the weird part:
When I turn off every device but the Pro X headset in pavucontrol > configuration in an effort to try to force my laptop into using the USB headset then the microphone input signal indicated by the bar in pavucontrol > input devices *literally* resembles my counterpart in a skype conversation, meaning the signal I receive from the other person in a voice call MINUS everything that is going on on my machine (music for example) is presented as my USB microphone input signal in pavucontrol. WTF? yikes

I am absolutely desperate for help!
