HDMI to VGA converter not working after upgrade

Hi
My video card is Nvidia before 1030.as it doesn't have an VGA output I use an HDMI to VGA converter to connect to an LCD monitor. All was fine on kernel 5.6.6 and it's corresponding Nvidia driver.
I had to install some basic softwares like Firefox, terminator, alsa etc. So I did a system refresh as recommended. Pacman upgraded the kernel to 5.6.7 and also n idia.
Post that my VGA converter has stopped working. Everything is fine with the HDMI .
I tried to downgrade kernel, header, Nvidia drivers to the previous working version from pacman cache -U as mentioned in the wiki. But it wouldn't work. Updated the system again to get the latest kernel that doesn't solve it.
I don't know if I should be asking th is as it is not really a problem esp. since I have an LTS kernel with nouveau. But is there a way to troubleshoot. It's a pain working on a big tv as a monitor and I don't put stuff on the LTS. It exists as an backup with an desktop gui .

Everything is fine with the HDMI

If the output from the HDMI is fine, then it seems the problem is with the converter. Have you tried the converter with another device or have you tried another converter?

Hi
I don't have any other converter. I want to understand what's changed that it doesn't work with the new kernel and driver. It isn't a major upgrade. Plus even reverting it doesnt work. So something is hidden that's escaping me.
One of the reason why I chose Arch. To learn about things so close to hardware and much more. Thanks

The point here is that maybe you are really unlucky and your converter simply died. You need to test it on another machine to rule out that option. But first fire up dmesg -w and plug in your converter and see if you get any output

Nothing in dmesg. The converter works fine with nouveau I have in the LTS kernel. I tried rolling back to 22 April but no luck.

The kernel is independent from the OS, or is this actually a second OS on a different partition?

I tried rolling back to 22 April but no luck.

Tried or succeeded?
If you restored the former software stack, the update is unlikely the trigger.

Does the output still show up in "xrandr -q"?

Is this a hybrid system? ("lspci" output)

It was the xrandr on cinnamon startup that was the problem.i turned it off and made it auto. Now it sends the correct signal, res etc when the VGA converter is connected Or if the hdmi is connected.
