Chromium/Browser extensions on AUR

Hi, what is the purpose of installing browser extensions (in my case chromium ones) using aur packages (or official repository) instead of using the browser itself ? is there any advantage?

Re: Chromium/Browser extensions on AUR

One thing I can think of is that due to doing that system wide you don't have to have multiple copies of the same extension installed for every user on multi-user systems if you wan't the extensions shared.

Other than that it's unlikely that there really is much other advantage to it.

I don't believe chromium allows sideloading at all, so the only thing you can do is install a json policy telling chromium to install the extension from the chrome webstore as soon as you start it up.

Firefox does provide a system directory for sideloading extensions.
