[SOLVED] Installed LTS kernel- device '/dev/mapper/vg0-root' not found

I've installed Arch with lvm and luks. Everything works but when I add linux-lts and regenerate a GRUB config the normal kernel still works but the LTS version not:
(btw: i know /dev/sdc3 should be UUID= but I get the same error then so I just left that for now)

EDIT: same procedure does work fine with linux-zen (which is the same version as normal linux kernel)

A password is required to access the luks volume:
mount: /new_root: special device /dev/mapper/vg0-root does not exist.
ERROR: device '/dev/mapper/vg0-root' not found, Skipping fsck.
mount: /new_root: special device /dev/mapper/vg0-root does not exist.
You are now being dropped into an emergency shell.
sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
[rootfs ]#

What did I missed?

# MODULES
# The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
# run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
# in this array. For instance:
#     MODULES=(piix ide_disk reiserfs)
MODULES=(ext4)

# BINARIES
# This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
# wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
# override the actual binaries included by a given hook
# BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
BINARIES=()

# FILES
# This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
# as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.
FILES=()

# HOOKS
# This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the
# modules and scripts added to the image, and what happens at boot time.
# Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the
# order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
# help on a given hook.
# 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
# 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
# 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
# Examples:
## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
## No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.
#    HOOKS=(base)
#
## This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should
## work as a sane default
# HOOKS=(base udev autodetect block filesystems)
#
## This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
##   No autodetection is done.
#    HOOKS=(base udev block filesystems)
#
## This setup assembles a pata mdadm array with an encrypted root FS.
## Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H mdadm' for more information on raid devices.
# HOOKS=(base udev block mdadm encrypt filesystems)
#
## This setup loads an lvm2 volume group on a usb device.
#    HOOKS=(base udev block lvm2 filesystems)
#
## NOTE: If you have /usr on a separate partition, you MUST include the
# usr, fsck and shutdown hooks.

Re: [SOLVED] Installed LTS kernel- device '/dev/mapper/vg0-root' not found

The order of things in your mkinitcpio.conf appears to be incorrect  .
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dm-crypt

Which of those methods did you choose ?

Does the lts fallback image work for you ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

I used 'Encrypting an entire system'.

I changed the order in mkinitcpio.conf but that doesn't resolve the problem.

No, the fallback image of linux (linux-5.6.8.arch1-1) doesn't work either. But the recent (5.6.8) linux and linux-zen kernel both work.

Re: [SOLVED] Installed LTS kernel- device '/dev/mapper/vg0-root' not found

Solved!

I changed the hooks in mkinitcpio.conf to:
HOOKS=(base udev autodetect keyboard keymap consolefont modconf block lvm2 encrypt filesystems fsck)
and ran:
mkinitcpio -p linux

Then I changed /etc/default/grub to use the UUID
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=”cryptdevice=UUID=UUIDofdevice:vg0 root=/dev/mapper/vg0-root”
and ran:
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
