"error: Attempt to read or write outside of disk" after update

I've just updated my system and rebooted my PC. After selecting Arch Linux in GRUB, I get:

Loading Linux linux ...
error: attempt to read or write outside of disk `hd0'.
Loading initial ramdisk ...
error: you need to load the kernel first.

Press any key to continue...

Then it goes back to the GRUB menu, and the next time it tries to boot Arch Linux it just seems stuck on

Loading Linux linux ...

after which nothing happens.

Rebooting the system again gives me the first error message.

The only thing I did was update the system using

pacman -Syu

, and the system was working totally fine before that, so the bootloader and everything should be set up correctly.

I don't know exactly what packages were updated but my last update before this was quite recent; within a week I'd say.

Does anyone have an idea how I can get back into my system?

(I'm the same person as OP; the OP account was still logged in on my windows which is why I used it instead of this account which I'm using from my arch)

I recovered the system by using a fresh live CD to mount the harddrive on which the malfunctioning installation was installed, chrooted it, and downgraded linux and linux-headers from 5.6.11 to 5.6.10. This fixed the issue.
