[SOLVED] Commands are not working

For some odd reason some of my commands are not working although during the installation they worked fine. For example when I want to see all the folders/files I type ls and it does not do anything it just simply goes to another line. I don't get an error message or anything of that sort it just simply doesn't not work I even tried typing /usr/bin/ls and still it doesn't work. Why is this happening?
