Filesystem support access counters

Wondering if ext4 or any other linux filesystem supports the concept of an access counter for quickly querying the most frequently used files on a filesystem.

I'm looking for something more robust than atime which can simply count how many times a file has been opened.

I would be interested in experimenting with this filesystem or even better if something in the ext family already supports this with an option I'm not aware of.
