ruby package seems to be left behind

Ruby is on 1.8.4 while 1.8.5 came out a while ago. Package is flagged out of date, and last commit to CVS was 2 months ago. Is there any problem with it?

Thanks
PS: Sorry if this is the incorrect section for posting (maybe this could be a bug request?).

Re: ruby package seems to be left behind

Try mailing the Maintainer: dorphell , dorphell@archlinux.org about it.

If you have the time, it would be helpful for the maintainer if you tried to compile the newest version by changing the abs-pkgbuild to find out how many problems there are.
Often all that's needed is changing the version number and md5sums.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Thanks

Re: ruby package seems to be left behind

I can't remember very well where I've heard it , but doesn't Ruby on Rails have problems with the 1.8.5 version ?

Re: ruby package seems to be left behind

Yes (noticed this after googling). It seems that a library included on RubyOnRails (breakpoint) is broken. Couldn't find a workaround/patch, but I'll google some more later.

Re: ruby package seems to be left behind

Yeah, there's some breakage, but there are workarounds. Just some helpful links, as I'm not actually burning for an official Ruby 1.8.5 Arch package; I'm happy to roll my own, but I guess it's nice to see my fav language's packages being kept up-to-date wink!
