[SOLVED] Problem with wheel group and visudo

i have a small problem here... wondering if you guys could help. 

I've installed Arch on my laptop a few days ago and as i recall, everything was working fine as far as my personal account being part of the wheel group and being enabled in the sudoers file  ( %wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL ).   

I could execute sudo commands just fine but starting this morning, if i tried to run a sudo command, i started getting the message that i'm not part of sudoers and that this incident will be reported.  Yet if i switch to root and do "cat /etc/group | grep wheel" and have a look at visudo, everything seems to be in order.  I DO see my username in the wheel group and the %wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL command is uncommented and in function.  Am i missing something?

I DO see my username in the wheel group and ...

We don't.  Show us.

Specifically, output from each of the following would be good:

whoami
grep $USER /etc/group
groups
stat /bin/sudo
grep wheel /etc/sudoers

Also (a link to) the journal would be good.

groups does not show wheel.  Have you been making any changes to users / groups?  If so, have you logged out and back in again recently?

I had noticed that wheel was not showing with groups.

I MIGHT have made changes to users or groups yesterday but i don't remember anything specific about what i did...

BUT... i tried adding

usermod -aG wheel yannick

And rebooted... Now everything is working fine...  and wheel is showing in groups...
