[solved] Seg fault starting GIMP

Since latest Arch upgrade I have trouble starting GIMP.

[ivan@ivan-linux ~]$ gimp
gimp_color_transform_new: error making dest format: DELL U2415 #1 2020-01-16 11-09 110cdm2 D6504 2.2 M-S XYZLUT+MTX: use lcms, accuracy desired and cluts are present
gimp: fatal error: Segmentation fault

(script-fu:1949): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: 02:40:29.392: script-fu: gimp_wire_read(): error

I tried switching off my color profiles and while Gimp can start there without crash, as soon as I open one image it crashes again with the following error:

Seems to me that there's a problem with color profiles generally since something changed/upgraded in Arch. I'm using Gnome.

What version?

Works fine for me: gimp 2.10.18-8

Re: [solved] Seg fault starting GIMP

Latest. Everything is latest. I'm trying to pinpoint the issue. When I delete the pref. file I can open it. But the problem is, I have customized gimp so much so doing it again is not an option...for now. :-/

So far I've found that when I click on "Try to use system monitor profile" under Color Management in Gimp, it immediately crashes.

*Something* in Color management in Gnome or Gimp crashes it. Why, I don't understand. Nothing was changed, except regular Arch updates.

Re: [solved] Seg fault starting GIMP

Found the issue. LCMS2 was changed from 2.9 to 2.10.

Reverting back to 2.9 and everything works.

You should open a bug report.

Re: [solved] Seg fault starting GIMP

I worked with the dev of LCMS 2 and while he couldn't reproduce it on his own, he found 2 bugs based on my stack traces. He even said one bug was apparent since 2.8 but somehow didn't emerge on the surface until 2.10 due to unknown causes.

Anyway, as soon as the arch maintainer of lcms2 updates the package it will be good.
