I have an Arch installation on XPS 7590 with Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU. I am using optimus-manager and have a successful nvidia-prime setup. But when I execute nvidia-settings, the following error appears in the terminal:
ERROR: nvidia-settings could not find the registry key file.
This file should have been installed along with this driver at /usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-key-documentation.
The application profiles will continue to work, but values cannot be prepopulated or validated, and will not be listed in the help text.
Please see the README for possible values and descriptions.
As per the following screenshot, I have no access to any of the profiles in the window.

I have proprietary drivers installed which are up-to-date.
Please provide some directions to get the profiles in settings.

I don't get that error message, that file isn't present in any Arch package, and there have never been any default profiles to the best of my knowledge. What exactly did you install?

Listing the nvidia packages I have installed as below:
> pacman -Qe | grep nvidia
lib32-opencl-nvidia 440.82-1
nvidia 440.82-18
nvidia-lts 1:440.82-19
nvidia-prime 1.0-3
nvidia-settings 440.82-1
nvidia-utils 440.82-1
opencl-nvidia 440.82-1
Due to this warning, the settings application has no pre-populated profile values. The issue was also discussed in manjaro forums here.

Took a closer look and the file is actually there, but versioned, and properly resolved here. Check
usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-440.82-key-documentation
usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-440.82-rc
Do you have a .nvidia-settings-rc or so that might bend the default lookup path?

The files are available in the above mentioned directories. Following is the content of .nvidia-settings-rc:
RcFileLocale = C
DisplayStatusBar = Yes
SliderTextEntries = Yes
IncludeDisplayNameInConfigFile = No
ShowQuitDialog = Yes
UpdateRulesOnProfileNameChange = Yes
Timer = Memory_Used_(GPU_0),Yes,3000
Timer = Thermal_Monitor_(GPU_0),Yes,1000
Timer = PowerMizer_Monitor_(GPU_0),Yes,1000

DId you ever figure it out? I have the same issue

I use Optimus-manager for switching the graphics. When I use the nvidia mode on optimus, the nvidia-settings module loads all the setting from the conf file. In all other modes it does not load the configuration.
Marking it as solved.
