[SOLVED] Plasma desktop can't remove widgets after update to 5.19.0-2

I updated my laptop today - I run the plasma desktop under wayland session.  I had both the cpu monitor and the network speed widgets on the desktop prior to the update. I know that the widgets have been rewritten from scratch, and they didn't work when I logged back in after the update.  So I tried to remove them.  However they seem to be deleted, only to reappear again when  I next login.

Does anyone know how to delete the older versions of the desktop widgets so that they are properly removed?

Edit:  After trying repeatedly I eventually managed to get rid of them by setting "customise layout" from the right click on the desktop background, and then hovering over one of the two widgets and selecting the bin - and then logging out and back in. Doing it separately for the next widget it eventually deleted and didn't re-appear when I logged back in.  Also the CPU was running high with the fans on until the old widgets were removed! So I don't know if there is a more sane way to get rid of widgets or not but this is resolved for me now.

Edit 2:  Looks like I wasn't the only one with widget problems after the plasma update: https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/g … 519_broke/

Edit 3: On my other laptop which has the same desktop configuration I thought I would remove the offending widgets before updating - I found that it was a struggle to successfully delete the widgets even prior to pacman update, but the same technique I used on the first one after updating also worked.
