[SOLVED] Cannot boot after upgrading to 5.7.2

Hello everyone! This is my first post, so I hope I meet the forum guidelines. I need your help, as I cannot seem to figure it out by myself. Thanks a lot!

After upgrading to 5.7.2 earlier today, I now get this at boot:

FI stub: ERROR: Failed to open file: /initramfs-linux.img
Failed to execute Arch Linux (\vmlinuz-linux): Not found

I loaded a live USB and tried debugging.

$ df -T
Filesystem        Type
/dev/mapper/root  ext4
/dev/sda1         vfat
[...]

(I have an encrypted root partition)

$ ls /boot
EFI grub initramfs-linux.img initramfs-linux-fallback.img intel-ucode.img loader vmlinuz-linux 

$ cat /boot/loader/entries/arch.conf
title Arch Linux
linux /vmlinuz-linux
initrd /intel-ucode.img
options inird=/initramfs-linux.img loglevel=3 cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:root:allow-discards root/dev/mapper/root rw

Several attempts of salvaging via a live USB failed. I've tried the following while arch-chrooted:

1. mkinitpcio -p linux. Nothing changed.

2. Shortened filenames in /etc/mkinitcpio.d/*.preset and /boot following reading https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p1545954, then re-ran mkinitpcio. The error "expectedly" changed to:

FI stub: ERROR: Failed to open file: /init.img
Failed to execute Arch Linux (\vmlinuz): Not found

Note that all logs are manually typed, so there might be typos.

Change the lines starting with a / to a \ when they refer to your ESP/FAT partition (so the linux and initrd lines), see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=256498 as well.

Thanks V1del, either using \ or removing it altogether works as expected. e.g.

$ cat /boot/loader/entries/arch.conf 
title Arch Linux
linux vmlinuz-linux
initrd intel-ucode.img
options initrd=initramfs-linux.img loglevel=3 cryptdevice=/dev/sda2:root:allow-discards root=/dev/mapper/root rw

Since there was a breaking change, a news entry would have been ideal.

That requires the developers to be aware of the issue in advance.  https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=256273 did not result in a bug report.
