External monitor brightness suddenly not working

Following this tutorial

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ba … l_monitors

Installed ddcci-driver-linux-dkms (https://gitlab.com/ddcci-driver-linux/d … iver-linux).  It helped  me control brightness using shortcuts on Gnome, but suddenly does not appear to be  working

Modules ddcci and ddcci_blacklight seems to be loaded

Here they state to do this if the device is recognized

echo 'ddcci 0x37' | sudo tee /sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-7/new_device

I get "Device or resource busy", if i unload ddcci modules this disappears

I suppose this is the same issue i am having

Re: External monitor brightness suddenly not working

From the wiki page you linked (which I also wasn't aware of, thanks!), it says this:
"Using ddcci and i2c-dev simultaneously may result in resource conflicts such as a Device or resource busy error."

So I'm assuming you have i2c-dev loaded as well when trying to use ddcci?

Thanks for trying to help me!

No, i have not from what i can see

Fun fact, if i download dccicontrols i am able to change the blacklight if i load the ic2-dev module, but that way keyboard shortcuts do not work
