[SOLVED] Startup failed,systemd-coredump, process Xorg dumped core

My archlinux failed to start today,and I get the msg from journalctl.

You aren't loading the proper OpenGL implementation, what's the graphics card and the used driver? Maybe also check your journal for error messages.

I can't find any other error msg in the journal, and I submitted the graphics card info and the driver info.
Can you tell me which dirver is the proper OpenGL implementation ?

You're down to the software rasterizer, do you boot "nomodeset"?

=> Please post xorg log and full system journal.

I have not set nomodeset,and  I resubmitted the full system journal.
But, the xorg log has been lost after  several restarts.
I have replaced xf86-video-ati  with xf86-video-amdgpu.
Did I need to remove xf86-video-vesa?

Ah, no - the Sumo 6xxx stuff is actually *much* older (before the Island series) - sorry, my bad.
However you were effectively using the modesetting driver:

#12 0x00007f4cc314bcad n/a (modesetting_drv.so + 0xfcad)

But, the xorg log has been lost after  several restarts.

Does that mean this was a one-off crash?

I have replaced xf86-video-ati  with xf86-video-amdgpu.

You're then now using the modesetting driver for sure.

Let's say, you don't want to use this driver. So there's little point in having it around.

This bug does not appear every time I boot, it occurs every few days or weeks.

You're then now using the modesetting driver for sure.

it sounds like I should install xf86-video-ati to replace modesetting driver and remove xf86-video-vesa .

My money is on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … _KMS_start - the kernel module has proably sometimes not fully initialized the GPU when X11 starts.

Do you mean to enable early KMS for my ati driver, to ensure that the kernel module fully initialized the GPU?
In my case:

/etc/mkinitcpio.conf

MODULES=(... radeon ...)

I will have a try.
