Re: Mac Menubar applet for Xfce/GNOME panels!

I can't access the repo, pacman keeps saying that it can't get the Aqd.db.tar.gz file. Anyone have similar problems?

AQD is no longer maintaining it.

Re: Mac Menubar applet for Xfce/GNOME panels!

xfce4-macmenu-plugin from AUR does not compile.

I compiled and installed gtk2-aqd with the PKGBUILD linked in this thread:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=35433

this is the makepkg error

It's not what you're searching for, but it can maybe help:
There are pre-compiled packages here. wink

Re: Mac Menubar applet for Xfce/GNOME panels!

Will this work if I'm using openbox? What do I have to do to make it work?

I'm using xfce4-panel and I found a theme that is compatible with the mac menubar.

Re: Mac Menubar applet for Xfce/GNOME panels!

That's quite an old post you're digging up. Last reply nearly 2 years ago.
Anyway, this project has been revitalised as gnome-globalmenu
google it and its in google code.
To answer your question, yes it will work if you're using xfce-panel. Try one of the globalmenu packages in AUR and make sure you compile with --enable-xfce-panel. I haven't tried it with xfce panel (I use gnome), but it should work regardless of the WM
It'll show up as an applet that you can add to your panel

Re: Mac Menubar applet for Xfce/GNOME panels!

I think it would be nice if Mac menubar mode was a GTK and Qt option (it used to be an option for Qt applications in the old KDE).  Having a menu in every application window is a big waste of screen space, IMO.  (And, plus, once again, IMO, to be able to have the menu for the current application at the bottom of the screen, Dmenu-style.  Or at the top.  Or on the side.  Or wherever you want.)  smile
