xrdp stuck on blue screen after login

I'm trying to set up my machine so it can be connected to via RDP, and xrdp seems to be the way to go. However, after setting everything up with my firewall, ip, etc. I can't actually get it to show a desktop. The login window appears, but after that, as the title says, all I see is a blue screen with a mouse cursor I can move around. I searched around for a solution, but all of the questions seem to be relating to Ubuntu 18.04. How do I fix this problem?

Re: xrdp stuck on blue screen after login

I faced the same issue yesterday. I followed Xrdp guide on Arch wiki and this video on Youtube. It worked for me, hope it will help you. BTW I am using Plasma 5.19.4 and my .xinitrc file looks like this

#!/bin/sh

#
# ~/.xinitrc
#
# Executed by startx (run your window manager from here)
#

export DESKTOP_SESSION=plasma
exec startplasma-x11
