[SOLVED] Could not sync environment to dbus on first login KDE

the first login attempt onto my arch system will always fail with Could not sync environment to dbus popup and then it kicks me back into the login screen. Atempting to login again works without issues  Here is some info about my system https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=0885b2d4d6

Re: [SOLVED] Could not sync environment to dbus on first login KDE

What are you using as your login screen? The info page mentions TDM, if so what does your .xinitrc look like? You need to ensure it follows the template specified in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinit#xinitrc (note the blue boxes) (But it also mentions lightdm in which case this shouldn't be the issue...)

sudo journalctl -b

after a failed login? You can post that here in [ code ] [ /code ] tags without the spaces.

There are also a lot of weird services running/attempting to run, where the steam.service seems to stick out as a potential culprit.

I'm using lightdm don't know why it says tdm. anyway I have never touched my .xinitrc i just let it auto generate. This is how it looks https://gist.github.com/zany130/3e66642 … a8f337f7b9

here is my logs

How did you auto generate it? If it looks like that and you didn't knowingly do that it's impossible you've installed Arch Linux. If you've used an installer you have to ask the author of said installer for support.

Re: [SOLVED] Could not sync environment to dbus on first login KDE

i installed arch with the official iso and I used the wiki. maybe it looks diffrent becuase nvidia-settings messed with it?
i just followed the wiki and installed kde and the nvidia driver while i was booted into the live iso rebooted and everthing worked. Note the first few weeks i used arch i didn't have this issue so maybe something modified that file and thats what caused the issue?

Potentially, there are quite a few unknowns here but I'm willing to give some benefit of the doubt.

In any case you ran something that made some significant changes here, I wouldn't be suprised if wherever you got that steam service from is what leads to this and I still believe that you should stop the steam.service, where did you get that from?

ohh that could be it i was trying to setup steam to run with it's own wm sorta like steamos so basicly my user would be able to select from the plasma desktop to login and the steamos desktop. It was a package I installed called steam-standalone i think. maybe if I unisnstall it will work?
