getty autologin mess up.. can't boot

hey all,

i was trying to configure autoboot and startx using getty.. however i must have messed something up..
now my system hangs at a black screen with a command cursor flashing, but no ability to type.
this is after the grub arch selection screen.

how can i roll back my changes? i'm praying i haven't screwed myself here!

Try booting to the rescue.target?
