Is grub-reboot deprecated ?

Hi all,

The current 0.97 version of grub in Arch doesn't seem to know grub-reboot. Apparently it died in other distros as well (Debian Etch and Ubuntu Edgy), though the 0.97 in Ubuntu Dapper still knows it. Anyone know if it's gone for good?

Any way I could revert to an older version of grub?

what does grub-reboot, that you need it?

Have you tried to turn it off and on again?

Well you just type in

grub-reboot <entry>

where entry is the corresponding number in the menu.lst, and it overrides the default entry for the next boot. Comes in quite handy on headless systems.

Re: Is grub-reboot deprecated ?

that command seems to be replaced by

grub-set-default

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

Re: Is grub-reboot deprecated ?

OK, found it. Yes, it does involve grub-set-default, but you also have to alter the menu.lst so that grub reverts to the initial default after booting the temporary one once.

All is explained in great detail in (of all places) the grub manual:
