Zoom causes very high CPU use

The last few times I've had a Zoom meeting, once other participants join, my CPU use goes through the roof, first preventing Zoom from being usable at all, then causing the machine to end up in a similar state. The rise seems to correlate with the number of other participants, although even three makes it unusable.
I don't understand what is happening, I'm not even sure how to look at logs for this one. I have another Arch machine (older hardware) and this does not happen. Any suggestions of what to even look at would be appreciated. Kernel: 5.8.1-arch1-1

Have you checked zoom support forums (or similar)?

Yes, the forums are usually my last resort. There's really nothing, especially linux related. I will, however, reach out to zoom support directly.
