[SOLVED] conky and conky-manager giving Syntax error output
EDIT: issue fixed, here is the solution:
The autoconvert seems (perhaps "accidentally") broken, use https://github.com/brndnmtthws/conky/ra … onvert.lua to convert the file to the new syntax.
installed both conky and conky-manager and both give me output:
conky: Syntax error (/home/retro/.conky/Conky MIUI/miui:2: unexpected symbol near '#') while reading config file.
conky: Assuming it's in old syntax and attempting conversion.
conky: [string "..."]:159: attempt to call a nil value (global 'loadstring')
any suggestions on how to fix this?
btw im new to the forums/bbs

@retrodot It might be a good idea to post your config file so we can have a look in case the autoconvert still flags errors.

getting this output from the lua:
convert.lua: line 3: local: can only be used in a function
convert.lua: line 4: Usage:: command not found
convert.lua: line 6: Tries: command not found
convert.lua: line 8: Keep: command not found
convert.lua: line 9: with: command not found
convert.lua: line 10: should: command not found
convert.lua: line 12: Although: command not found
convert.lua: line 26: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `"'
convert.lua: line 161: syntax error: unexpected end of file.
am i missing some programs?

i used sh instead of chmoding the script and then ./convert.lua. Oops!
EDIT: it works btw
