Hi, I've done a fresh install of arch.
When looking at the wiki entry for asus laptops the field for my device uses a specific config to have headphones working.
The built-in speakers work just fine but when I plug-in my headphones they don't play anything. They're selected and not muted (checked with alsamixer) but they just don't give any sound.
Tried booting to an ubuntu live usb and it does work just fine so it's not the jack itself.
I've even tried updating the firmware of the laptop but nothing seems to fix my problem.

What happens if you remove the modprobe config suggested in the wiki? They should generally never be necessary and can have weird side effects and it's unlikely that Ubuntu will do something like that by default..

It isn't a modprobe config but an alsa-base.config file. If I remove it it works the same way.
