Noticed that the 2.6.19-rc1-mm1 has the ext4 filesystem added, and thought people might be interested. Not sure if this belongs to Kernel & Hardware tho.. feel free to move it around .

that thread's a few months old now Romashka, it's fine to start a new one.
ext4 doesnt seem all to oriented to the desktop anyway, so I think we'll all be using ext3/reiserfs for quite a while yet.

Yes, changes like extents, higher limits etc. are mostly useful for servers.
But there may be other features in future.

I might try ext4 for the LFS I am about to do (hopefully, unlike my other attempts it'll get past compiling GCC on the first pass (failed at binutils on Ubuntu and GCC on LFS LiveCD :cry: ). I'll report back if anything bad happens.
EDIT: Never mind, people on IRC made me want to try XFS
