I noticed in trizen that the wslu package is no longer in AUR. Does anyone know what happened? I find the wslview utility useful, for example.

you can still clone it: https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/ … ILD?h=wslu

I guess, but I was hoping to hear about why the package was taken down... Shouldn't it be just orphaned?

Didn't you read the link I posted? the reason why is clearly stated.
eschwartz [1] filed a deletion request for wslu [2]:
The AUR does not permit upload of packages which are intended for a
non-Arch distribution, and are not useful, or don't work, on Arch.AUR packages must be written with the intention of working and
achieving their purpose, at a minimum, on archlinux x86_64 (but may
optionally support additional targets, e.g. ARM support is popular,
Manjaro users often upload manjaro themes that can be equally used on
Arch, users of parabola or artix upload openrc/runit based packages
which can be used to install the official Arch installation media,
then build your own alternative init system and replace systemd, thus
being functional and useful on archlinux).[1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/eschwartz/

Oh, sorry, I glanced over and thought it was a generic deletion post.
Shame, but I won't argue with the rules...
