I'm running Arch 5.4.67-1-lts on an
on an Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz and have a problem with 'systemctl suspend' or 'hibernate' not switching off the computer. The suspend loop seems to work properly, there are no errors, the hard drive switches off, but the computer fan keeps on spinning and the power button won't turn the system back on, only rebooting or hard shutdown is possible.
The last entries from journalctl before -- Reboot -- are
Sep 27 18:30:28 xxxxxxx systemd[1]: Reached target Sleep.
Sep 27 18:30:28 xxxxxxx systemd[1]: Starting Suspend...
Sep 27 18:30:28 xxxxxxx systemd-sleep[518]: Suspending system...
Sep 27 18:30:28 xxxxxxx kernel: PM: suspend entry (deep)
I think the problem occurred when upgrading from 5.4.18-1-lts to 5.4.22-1-lts, but might have been already from the upgrade 4.19.67-1-lts to 5.4.18-1-lts (didn't have the computer online for a while...)

Hello jussijussi,
Your problem seems to be related to 'Advanced Configuration and Power Interface' (ACPI).
I already went to this problem due to systemd bug.
I solved it by updating the system.
Use a GNU/Linux LiveCD to check that suspend is correctly working and that is not a BIOS configuration issue.

Thanks Thorsten,
I updated and suspend worked as root. However, when the computer woke up, the display wouldn't turn on...
When I was logged in as a user, suspend still had the same issue as in my previous post.
I don't think it's a BIOS issue, it was all working fine before and I didn't mess with the settings, and checked that ACPI was correctly setup when this problem occurred.

1) Is you computer a desktop or a laptop?
2) What is the behaviour of your problem if you use a GNU/Linux LiveCD?
