question about packman

ok i copied all the kde file to a disc and

$ cd /to dir

typed

pacman -U kde-common-3.5.4-1.pkg.tar.gz

now it needs archlinux-menus

where do i find this file

i dont know what i think about arch yet but it is not what i expected it to be
it might  be differnt if the machine i was putting it on was connected to the internet or lan but its a pain in the butt to get everything off the cd with pacman
but i've only been running linux for about a week and half

thanks blame

Re: question about packman

can't you edit the pacman.conf file to read from the cd as source?  Actually, doesn't it do this automagically?  So you should just be able to type pacman -S kde-common and it should use the cd as your first "server"

Re: question about packman

The menus can be found here: ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/extra/os/i686/a … pkg.tar.gz

You don't need the menus, so you can also just skip dependencies if the menu package is the only one you are missing:

 pacman -Ud kde-common-3.5.4-1.pkg.tar.gz
