dwm+alacritty+compton transparency

I am trying to get some opacity on my terminal emulator windows. My setup:

- alacritty: 0.5.0
Setting in alacritty.yml

background_opacity: 0.2

- dwm: current master patched with: https://dwm.suckless.org/patches/defaulttransparency/, defaulttransparency set to 0.7

- compton: vgit-2c9e7, stock configuration

However I only get a black terminal emulator background in the window. Anyone has a idea how to fix this? I have been looking through github issues for a while now but did not yield any results.

Re: dwm+alacritty+compton transparency

I had the same issue, however I'm running my arch on vmware.
I was using xcompmgr and tried other composite managers but transparency did not work. It was same as you, it got darker when the opacity was low.
When I enabled the 3d acceleration on my VM this problem was solved.

I don't know how useful this info is, but I hope it helps.
