A very minor but very irritating problem: I turn off my thunderbolt lenovo monitor at night. In the morning, when I turn it on, it's not detected on my Lenovo P53 laptop. I have to pull out the cable from the computer and plug it back in, then the monitor is detected. This is 100% reproducible, even if I power down the monitor for a short time, when I turn it back on, it's invisible to the laptop without unplugging and replugging the cable.
GPU : Nvidia Quadro RTX 3000
Drivers: proprietary nvidia 455.23.04-1
Kernel: 5.8.12-arch1-1

There's that HDMI pin 19 hotplug-blocking trick. Might help or not. Also this post in Nvidia site discusses problems with display.
That Thunderbolt interface, you need to search web (and this site) for more information yourself.
Remember also, if you find a solution somewhere, no quarantees, it's your equipment, don't blame anyone if something brokes.

Ok, I see now it's not a bug but rather a feature. Thanks, I now know more about what keywords to search for

OMG, I found my monitors manual (Lenovo P27U), disabled DCC/CI, and it now autodetects on power on!!! Thank you!

Yes there were pretty good list of possible fixes in that NVidia post. Nice that one of those did the trick (much easier than physically working with cables). Remember to replace the subject here beginning with [Solved].

Note for future people: disabled DCC/CI does the trick about 50% of the time. Other times the screen is simply undetected on power on, and once it was stuck at 30 Hz instead of 60. But it's definitely an improvement on the wear of my thunderbolt port.
