Can't connect to HDMI display

Hej guys,

I'm using a small Dell Laptop (Latitude 7390). It has a USB-C-type DisplayPort socket and an HDMI socket. I have monitors connected to both, the DisplayPort -> DisplayPort on the monitor and the HDMI -> DisplayPort on the second monitor (not sure if that makes any difference).

Only the monitor connected to the USB-C type DisplayPort works.

In my xinitrc, I only have the line:

xrandr --auto

I'm pretty unknowledgable with Linux so thanks for any suggestions, but please keep them simple. Thanks.
