kernel framebuffers and tty0

Hi, I've got this problem where when I enable a framebuffer on the kernel bootup line in my grub configuration, the first terminal does not display correctly.

The arch logo shows while the startup scripts run, and when comes the time to log in, it works fine.  But then, it's like the upper part of my screen, where the arch logo was, cannot be used to display anything new.  This makes 'less' or 'cat' very confused/confusing.

If I switch to another terminal (Ctrl-Alt-F2), everything is fine.  If I start X, everything is fine.

Any thoughts?
