I just received a new XPS17 from Dell. After installing the driver for the soundcard by following the instructions in the wiki I'm experiencing some problems.
The left speaker sounds absolutely horrible. See the video below for an example.
The speaker sounds like in the video about 50% of the time, and the rest of the time it sounds as expected.
I believe the speaker is simply broken, but before returning the computer I'd like to see if anyone here believes it could be something wrong with the driver. Could a bad driver cause an issue like this? Other reports on the internet seem to verify that the above driver works good for them.
Unfortunately I already uninstalled Windows so I can't check if I have the same issue there.

Found a comment on github that described my issue perfectly. The solution was to downgrade sof-firmware to 1.5.1.
