Hi, I'm struggling to get an IPv6 address with Network Manager.
I have IPv6 connectivity out of the box with Windows 7 and an Arch machine running connman.
I tried switching IPv6 address generation mode from Stable Privacy to EUI64. Enable IPv6 privacy extensions with prefer temporary address. Nothing changes.
The Modem-router combo is an Actiontec T3200M.
WAN IPv6 IP Protocol is set to DHCPv6
LAN IPv6 connection type is set to Stateless
I tried disabling ufw but that didn't help. ufw man pages says it should accept icmpv6 packets by default anyways.
Reading the wiki's tells me everything should just work out of the box with Network Manager. It's not working for me. I could use some help in identifying the problem.
Edit: Something has changed. I'm going to assume issue was on ISP side. I have obtained IPV6 connectivity now.

Without logs and/or command outputs, we know even less than you about the problem. Dig up the journal logs, etc. for NM and investigate. "it's not working for me" also doesn't describe the problem - what exactly do you mean? Post outputs from 'ip addr', or go through the Network Troubleshooting Wiki.

I'm sorry, the problem I have is I don't know why I can not obtain an IPv6 address with NetworkManager. I can't find anything in the logs but I should have posted them. Sorry!

Edit: I looked at the Network troubleshooting wiki you linked to and installed tcpdump on this machine and on the arch machine running connman that has obtained an ipv6 address.
There is no IP6 activity at all showing up from tcpdump compared to the arch machine running connman which shows IP6 activity.

From the logs, it looks like NM is doing what you have *configured* it to do, or there is a default config in place. Try to find out why these messages show up and if those match with what you expect to see from the ipv6 and NetworkManager Wiki articles:

The 'awifinetwork' is 5ghz. I also have a 2.4 ghz network from the same T3200M modem/router but they can talk to each other.
To confirm 'awifinetwork' is configured for IPv6 I enabled IPv6 on my old Sony non android TV with auto configuration. I was able to obtain an IPv6 address and confirmed it in the TV's network status as well as the T3200M's firmware.
I have NetworkManager set to connect to the 5ghz 'awifinetwork' first. And the 2.4ghz network second if it can't connect to 'awifinetwork'.
Then I booted up the laptop and unbeknownst to me it had connected to the 2.4 ghz network instead. I then clicked on NetworkManager-applet icon in the system tray and selected the 2.4 ghz network which it was already connected to. It reconnected to the 2.4 ghz network. I had IPv6 connectivity. I then switched back to the 'awifinetwork' 5ghz network and it magically had IPv6 connectivity too. I rebooted my laptop to confirm I'd get IPv6 connectivity with 'awifinetwork' on boot, and I have it.
Then I decided to look deeper in journalctl and found out that the few times I had switched to the 2.4ghz network previously, it did gain IPv6 connectivity. But never on 'awifinetwork' 5ghz network. I suspect my TV triggered the T3200M to issue IPv6 addresses on 'awifinetwork' ? I've never had any device on the 'awifinetwork' 5ghz network use IPv6 prior to enabling it on my TV today.
I notice you're from Alberta. Would you happen to know how Telus provides IPv6 connectivity? I've googled and found some people back in 2016 saying it uses DHCPv6-PD. But then I found a blog from 2019 saying it uses DHCPv6-IA to provide IPv6 connectivity. Just curious what caused it to suddenly start to work to avoid running into the same problem. And I'm wondering if I'll eventually lose IPv6 connectivity again until I enable IPv6 on the TV again?
