Re: Problems with the NetworkManager forgetting every single password

Plasma NM relies on kwallet to store per user passwords. Is that configured properly?

that explains a lot since it broke at the same time
im already changing to i3 so if you made this i3 compatible it would be nice
i think i tried disabling the wallet since it was always asking me for the password

Re: Problems with the NetworkManager forgetting every single password

If you want to be independent of your environment you need to configure the relevant connections as "system connections" (plasma-nm has a checkbox in the relevant connection list and an option to set the password to be stored systemwide) which will store the passwords plaintext in a root-only readable directory.

If you change to nm-applet in addition with i3 you will want to setup gnome-keyring or something else implementing libsecret.

As for kwallet, disabling it will lead to various unwanted side effects, as you've noticed, if you just want to avoid it asking for your password, if it is set to the same password as your login user you can set it up so it unlocks together with your user's login https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KDE_Wallet
