Hi All,
I am facing a peculiar issue in otherwise a perfect install.
I have Arch installed in Virtualbox VM, the host being windows 10 machine. I have also installed Guest Additions for Virtual Box. This is on a Dell laptop 5410, and the VM has 2 cores with 6 GB RAM assigned to it.
When I am in the VM working on the Arch system, if I pull out my earphones from the plug, the system just freezes, so much so that I have to go to Windows Task Manager and kill the VM.
The sound drivers are Realtek and if the earphone is preplugged before starting the VM, this issue does not come and I can work smoothly.
Any ways of troubleshooting this ? All my drivers are updated.

If you disable the audio on the guest (probably best if you do it before you start the guest), does it still fail?
Also check the virtualbox logs. The logs for the guest are in <your machine>/Logs/VBox.log

If I disable audio on the guest, this problem does not happen.
I checked the VBox logs, but unable to decipher much out of them. Is there anything I should be looking for ?

If the logs is small, post it here in [ code ] tags (w/o spaces). Otherwise use a Supported Pastebin.

Hi,
To be honest, I am finding it difficult to pastebin the logs.
Is there a way of mailing the files ? I am looking at 2 files - VMBox.log and VBoxHardening.log.
My apologies - have just got hooked to Arch and am yet unfamiliar with the utilities (such as pastebin). I did try installing ix.io but had no idea of uploading the files.

With Arch, the #1 thing you'll have to learn and get used to is reading comprehension - slow down and actually read the Wiki link I gave you. You don't "install" ix.io. You use it as a Web-based service in the way that clearly shown in the "Tips" box:
curl -F 'f:1=<-' ix.io < fileWhere file is the file you wish to upload.

Are those two logs from a situation where the VM had the freezing issue? Unless I missed it, the Arch guest looks to be terminated normally/gracefully.
Also, you should look at / grab the Arch guest Journal logs: after you've had a freeze, reboot the guest and then use `journalctl -b -1` to get the previous boot's (the one that froze) log. Hopefully there is something there.
I don't run Windows as a VM host, so I can't compare sound settings on the host - do you have options to pick another driver? You might want to experiment with that to see if there's a better option to pick there.

Apologies for a delayed reply.
I managed to get my hands on an old lapop and installed Arch in the laptop - thus I dont have to use VirtualBox anymore.
