The reason for the slow speed of copying files to Flash on Linux!

Hello
I have a problem copying files on Linux
For example, in Windows, I could copy a 4 GB file in 2 to 4 minutes
But in Linux, the same file takes a few more minutes to copy!
Is Linux like that at all? Do you copy files poorly?

Depends on if it is a USB2 or USB3 port. On USB3 ports the external hard drives won't keep up. The port will write faster than the drive will be written to.

USB2 ports write at 24-28MB/s to a USB2 drive. If you put a USB3 drive in a USB2 port, it'll write somewhat faster.

As I recall, my UBS3 drives in a USB3 port will write at 100-120MB/s, but the drives won't keep up, there is caching/writing.

For little usb sticks, they are all different. Some write to faster than others. I don't pay much attention to those cheep little things. You get what you get with them. Sometimes 2 of the same brand out of the same pack will write at different speeds.

Also depends on the file system on the drive. NTFS is not the fastest thing to write to. It is a good choice though if you want to share the drive with different platforms.

In addition, Windows sometimes does not wait for disk syncs in its copy dialogs.
I.e. the data is considered copied on the FS level, but the cache has not yet been fully synced to the disks.
You'll notice this when copying e.g. to an pen drive and then trying to "safely remove" it after it's allegedly done.
If Windows has not synced yet, it will yield an error message, that the device is still in use and cannot be safely removed.
