ecryptfs unencrypting home directory in Nautilus but not in terminal

Hey folks,

This is change behaviour, I'll list recently update packages below.

When logging in to Gnome (using GDM) my home directory is unencrypted as expected. I can created, read, update and delete files as normal.

When I open a terminal (using either Tilix or Terminal) - my home directory is not unencrypted.

If I

cd ~

and run

ll

I get the following output:

total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 chris users 56 Apr  2  2020 Access-Your-Private-Data.desktop -> /usr/share/ecryptfs-utils/ecryptfs-mount-private.desktop
lrwxrwxrwx 1 chris users 52 Apr  2  2020 README.txt -> /usr/share/ecryptfs-utils/ecryptfs-mount-private.txt

Running

ecryptfs-mount-private

yields no output and doesn't resolved the issue.

What's confusing me is, if I

cd ~/src

and run

ll

I get listing of

/

.

Interestingly, tab auto-completion does show existing directories in my home folder.

I'll list the contents of

/etc/pam.d/system-auth

below.

Cheers!

Re: ecryptfs unencrypting home directory in Nautilus but not in terminal

This is the output of mount:

/home/.ecryptfs/chris/.Private on /home/chris type ecryptfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,ecryptfs_fnek_sig=48fc5a45b052ae90,ecryptfs_sig=64711362cdc16697,ecryptfs_cipher=aes,ecryptfs_key_bytes=16,ecryptfs_unlink_sigs)

Re: ecryptfs unencrypting home directory in Nautilus but not in terminal

Curiously, if I log in to another TTY, everything works as expected.
