patched font not loading

i used font patcher from nerd fonts to patch inconsolata-g. after successfully generating new font, i ran 

fc-cache -f -v

 

and 

fc-list | grep "Inconsolata"

 

showed that it was installed. however i could not find the new font in both my desktop settings and terminal. please advise. thank you

Did you restart desktop process and/or terminal?
(Few clients will update the font database at runtime)

i rebooted. is it sufficient?

the new fonts generated(both otf and ttf) are sharing the same name. would this be problematic? also they are showing up under the FCITX keyboard font options, but missing in kde plasma system settings and terminal

i can see they are not appearing as mono fonts. they only show up in:

Yes, but font type for *what*?
Apparently it's not a monospace font and plasma/konsole probably won't let you select a variable width font in that context.

Ensure the patched font remains monospace.
