Touchpad pauses intermittently

Hey all,

Just got a new laptop, and Asus with an ELAN touchpad.  I'm having a problem where it will pause for a few seconds randomly while dragging it.  Sometimes it behaves for a half hour or so, and then when it starts to happen, it happens essentially every time I put my finger on the pad to drag it.  It's very annoying!

I've uninstalled xf86-input-synaptics since it's deprecated and installed xf86-input-libinput.

I've never had problems with a touchpad, so I don't know how to even troubleshoot!

I read something about manually loading the psmouse module, but it didn't make any impact.

dmesg shows nothing when it happens, so it's not related to kernel or drivers from what I can tell, and journalctl doesn't show anything either.

Not sure if it's worth noting, but the click function works even when the drag function doesn't.

in case it's useful, the output of libinput

# libinput list-devices
