vlc and network source

so i do Media -> Open New Network Stream

it fails

yet when I do the same on windows 10, solus and gentoo the same link plays.

what am i missing?

Likely an optional dependency, what does "it fails" mean exactly? What error do you get? Check the error log (... there's a GUI button and likely would be logged to a terminal as well)
