дец 11 19:05:13 ivan-linux systemd[713]: Stopped KDE Global Shortcuts Server. What I did since KDE was behaving nicely was:
1. Updated xorg server with YES option to move to etc/wayland even though I'm on X11 and have no wayland. But I guess that's a new default for xorg anyway.
2. Removed akonadi and kmail and the whole kde-pim-meta package.
What is KDE Global shortcuts server and what can I do about it?

Nope, Xorg and wayland are still separate projects.
I doubt very much that question came from pacman , but if it did it should be listed in pacman log .
sddm was last updated on 4 - 11 - 2020 so I doubt that was it.
Maybe some KDE or KWin thingy asked that and when you confirmed changed the setting to use wayland instead of X .
Not sure what "KDE Global shortcuts server" is but I doubt it's responsible for the issues.
Sorry, no idea how to determine whether you're running X or wayland.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

There were recent updates for xorg, including xorg-xwayland, but to be asked to replace X with Wayland I find hard to believe. Please post the relevant portion (or complete) of pacman.log with the exact messages, rather than your interpretation.

So the time of your first boot is OK?
Can you successfully log out and log in of a running session ?

Yes, sorry that was my bad. It just asked me to change dirs for xwayland, not to replace. I'm still using X11.
Anyway, the issue seems sorted itself once I deleted akonadi junk from /etc/xdg.
Thanks everyone for guesses, I will mark this thread solved in next couple of days. Will test it some more in case it wasn't just a temporal fix.
