Wallpaper Issue - XFCE Desktop Background Won't Change w/3rd Party App

This is obviously not a big issue, but I can't find a real solution anywhere. And it's frustrating that this continues to happen with ever installation now. I'd really like to know what's behind this anyway.

It seems to be specific with XFCE that using anything other than the native "Desktop Background" settings get's blocked somehow. I've tried with Nitrogen, Wal, Pywal, Feh.. they don't want to work, but the color scheme in the terminals WILL change to that of the image source.

If I go to the settings editor to see what I can find, it's obvious that on some level the image has been applied, but it's not being allowed to show. In fact there seems to be multiple wallpapers applied from multiple attempts, but only XFCE's own dominates. I didn't have this problem before, so what's going on?

Found no real solutions so far. This command:

xfdesktop -Q && xfdesktop -e > /tmp/xf.log 2>&1

Does NOthing for me, and the only solved thread including that, ended with no clarification as to how or why someone's got fixed magically.. cus mine isn't.. and if there's a solution then I would be happy to post full details of the solution for others to find.

So how would I find out what's causing this? Is there a config file involved? Why didn't I have this problem before?

I want to understand.. and be able to use feh or wal so I can set it to theme my desktop on boot.. (I know that part) but what's stopping it? How can I troubleshoot?

I haven't tried this, but have you tried unsetting the wallpaper in the XFCE Desktop settings, and perhaps setting the background as a solid transparent?
