OpenBox3 Question

Is it possible to open openbox menu items with a command? For example I plan to write a simple plugin for myself to add menu's to pypanel. I want to be able to  click on a pypanel button, and have it open the openbox menu.

Re: OpenBox3 Question

I hope to have understood your question, I have in rc.xml:

  <keybind>
    <action><menu>root-menu</menu></action>
  </keybind>

this will open the ob-menu; I have looked for a way to bind the root-menu action to a button (in pypanel or elsewhere) but without success, neither I have seen this implemented somewhere.

Well...
(Mikachu is the lead dev of ob)

What I do is leave a few pixels open on the end of the panel and realign it to the other corner, then you can just click/right click in the space

Re: OpenBox3 Question

If Openbox had dbus implementated, it would be completely supreme.

openbox --open-menu

That would be very hot.

Ok, I'm a few months late, but you can do something like this in FVWM. In fact, you can do anything in FVWM. (except cooking)

Re: OpenBox3 Question

I found this when googling. http://www.linuxtoys.org/xirrc/xirrc.c
You could take that part wich sends keycodes to X, and use the key you assigned to openbox menu.
