Plymouth stopped working after recent updates

Plymouth stopped working I believe after the kernel update to 5.10.3. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?  I can however go to a console run plymouthd and plymouth --show-splash and plymouth would render. I don't know how to look for a solution as it was working before. I do however am getting the 'KillMode=none' message in the journal which could be a clue.

Also I'm receiving a message on exit 'unable to unmount /oldroot'. In the past I know this is from systemd but does anyone else have the same message? Could this be related to the Plymouth problem?

System is up to date running in KDE with NVIDIA modeset and all.

Any help will be highly appreciated and a
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
to everyone in these trying times.
