[SOLVED] Arch on X1 Carbon 7th gen - no sound card

Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of trying to setup the sound for my newly installed Arch on my X1 carbon 7th gen. Got my awesome display manager and everything else working, going through the steps

I do not seem to have amixer or alsamixer installed by default which the wiki suggests I just get the following error when trying to unmute the channels as stated here

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … e_channels

bash: /usr/bin/amixer: No such file or directory
bash: /usr/bin/alsamixer: No such file or directory

Seems there are no detected sound cards.

[darkeve@darkeve asound]$ cat /proc/asound/cards
--- no soundcards ---

My user is 100% in the audio group. Any help is appreciated.

Re: [SOLVED] Arch on X1 Carbon 7th gen - no sound card

Installing sof-firmware resolved the issue. Allowed the sound device to be detected.
