Can't get sound working in gajim (solved)

Audio output device is properly set to my default device pulseaudio.

When I google for clues I see some talk of being able to set the soundplayer, yet I see no such way to configure the option in preferences. Nor is there a soundplayer in the config file or settings.sqlite.

I've tried both gajim git and the latest gajim in arch.

When I open the notification sounds in setting and try to play them I hear nothing. I can play those sound files from command line using aplay -q or paplay just fine. I read somewhere that aplay -q is the gajim default but I don't see where this option is.

Anyone know what happened to the soundplayer option in gajim or how I can fix this?

Gajim should provide information what is missing, in Gajim see Help->Features.

But to answer your question, you are probably missing gsound. It's an optional dependency Arch Linux currently doesn't list, see https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/67333.
