[solved]on fresh install unable to ping outside

Hi!

First I'm in the shell right after a fresh Archlinux install so it's difficult to share with you all the outputs of the commands but I will try my best. Sorry about that.

I successfully connected to my home router using iwd (iwctl command).
ip link command show me that the wireless interface is up because I see wlan0: <...,UP,LOWER_UP> ... link/ether 04:33:...

also with iw:

iw dev wlan0 link

If I check in the log I can see that the kernel module is loaded successfully:

Now my problem is I'm unable to ping archlinux.org or 8.8.8.8, I get "Temporary name resolution failure" or "network is not reachable" and yeah pacman -S commands fails for example... I'm stuck, and I have no clue of what is the cause of the problem.
Do you have an idea ?

Note : on the live installation USB I can connect with the same commands, same interface wlan0 and ping successfully the outside.

That's not the relevant part of the output.  What is after the word "state" after the angled brackets, e.g.:

3: wlp3s0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state WHATS-HERE qlen 1000

How have you configured iwd?  Are you using it's own dhcp client or have you installed another (e.g., dhcpcd/dhclient)?

The UP in <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> is what indicates the interface is up, not the later state DOWN.

Anyway, the the output part you mention is "state UP mode DORMANT"

For iwd as explained in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Iwd#iwctl I just started the service and run iwctl.

Are you using it's own dhcp client or have you installed another (e.g., dhcpcd/dhclient)?

I think that was the problem. I didn't configured iwd to use its builtin dhcp client.

Anyway I removed these utilities and installed NetworkManager and it works out of the box (using nmtui in the shell).
