[SOLVED] External monitor with PRIME black screen on startup

I have a second monitor connected to my laptop and I'm using KDE Plasma. Everything works fine, except whenever I reboot I get a black screen on my second monitor which is connected to my Nvidia GPU. When I restart sddm service, or kill X process, I can re-login to my desktop and the second monitor works fine. I don't have a xorg.conf file. Here's my Xorg.0.log:

What might be the cause?

Re: [SOLVED] External monitor with PRIME black screen on startup

That can happen when xorg starts before all graphics controllers are properly initialized, see: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … _KMS_start and add the modules you want to have available early to the relevant MODULES line. (in this case assuming i915 and noveau) if actually the nvidia driver follow the link to the nvidia setup which requires slightly more modules.

Thank you, this worked! Will I need to do this after every kernel upgrade?

Re: [SOLVED] External monitor with PRIME black screen on startup

Technically yes, in practice the images are automatically generated on kernel updates anyway.
