Wifi stopped working: iwlwifi: Failed to load firmware chunk!

Hello eceryone,

yesterday i updated my system, everything worked fine, but today after I turned my computer to sleep mode and woke it up, my wifi stopped working. I tried to restart my laptop but it did not helped.
I noticed that wifi interface is missing from ip link output:

Re: Wifi stopped working: iwlwifi: Failed to load firmware chunk!

You've told us nothing about how you've configured your networking or - more importantly given the interface is no longer listed - what your wireless hardware is and / or what drivers are being used.

Use the same steps you used to initially configure the system, like following the wiki, then post the diagnostic information you've collected here. (edit: cross posted with your edits)

There is good information in the edits.  I see recent related threads (one marked as solved) with similar error messages.  I'm not sure which approaches are best for your case, but please search for those error messages, and consider revising the title to include the error.

Re: Wifi stopped working: iwlwifi: Failed to load firmware chunk!

Ok, I found that I may have corrupted .ucode files, so I replaced iwlwifi-9000-pu-b0-jf-b0-{33, 34, 38, 41, 43, 46}.ucode in /lib/firmware with files from linux-firmware git repository, but without success.

Re: Wifi stopped working: iwlwifi: Failed to load firmware chunk!

As my next move I created file in /etc/modbrobe.d with following content:

options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 swcrypto=0 bt_coex_active=0 power_save=0
options iwlmvm power_scheme=1
options iwlwifi d0i3_disable=1
options iwlwifi uapsd_disable=1
options iwlwifi lar_disable=1

Did not work.

Re: Wifi stopped working: iwlwifi: Failed to load firmware chunk!

My last attempt:
- Removed the file from /etc/modprobe.d
- Replaced new .ucode files with the old ones
- Downgraded kernel to 5.10.9

It did not help.
I do not know what to do at this point.

Re: Wifi stopped working: iwlwifi: Failed to load firmware chunk!

It works now for some reason.

I feared that my wifi card is broken, so I downloaded Puppy Linux and booted it. It showed the same error with iwlwifi. At this point I tought that it is hardware problem. However I returned back to Arch and it works. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe some sort of early boot magic going on?

Re: Wifi stopped working: iwlwifi: Failed to load firmware chunk!

Hi!

I got the same behavior with my wifi and the iwlwifi driver.

After disabling wifi in the bios -- booting -- reanable wifi -- booting, everything is back to *normal*.

Re: Wifi stopped working: iwlwifi: Failed to load firmware chunk!

I just had this issue today with `iwlwifi` after upgrading to the 5.16.14 kernel and rebooting. Another reboot fixed it for me too. I also get this issue (all the time, not just after this update) if I boot into Windows and don't enable flight mode on the wifi card before shutting down - in Arch it isn't detected.
