Sane is asking for root-password via policykit on scan for device

First of all my scanners are working as expected. I only get a annoying popup asking for rootpassword via policykit on scan for devices. It doesn't matter if i use a gui like "simple-scan" or cli like "scanimage -L". The best part is that i still get a valid list of devices if i cancel the passwort-popup.

On a second device i don't get this behaver but i don't find the different between them. Where could i take a look to disable this?

The popup is saying:

Authentication is required to manage system services or other units

Re: Sane is asking for root-password via policykit on scan for device

I had this problem, too, and actually the solution is quite simple.

Remove /etc/sand.d/dll.d/hpaio and then add the following to your pacman.conf:

# Get rid of hpaio scanner driver
NoExtract = etc/sane.d/dll.d/hpaio

Of course this is only an option if you are not using a HP scanner.

It is also a good idea to create a backup copy of your /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and then delete all drivers but the one you are actually using. Since I've done that, my scanner dialog pops up way faster as the whole "search for the correct driver" step is skipped, now.
